The Thread is not broken!

Hello Again,

I finished, another of the items on my list! Hooray! Alright to be 100% accurate, I knit a newborn pumpkin hat for Miss Abigail May Smith :-) Mike and Amanda's new little one who was born on July 2nd.  And a larger version for Sophia Stewart who turned one this September

Not the first time I've made these, but I really like them. Perfect for fall pumpkin babies :-) The one pictured is for Sophia, and I did a short "Stem" and I think I prefer it to the longer I-Cord that you then knot, I feel it's more accurate to what a pumpkin's stem actually looks like. They are cute either way..

What should I knit next?? hmmmm what yarn to attack next. Actually I've been invited by a friend to join her table at a craft fair in December, so I'm scheming up what might sell well and what I can knit up quickly.  This seems like a perfect opportunity to deplete my stash even more!

And so the thread continues...

Hello Again,

I finished, one of the items on my list! Hooray! Alright to be 100% accurate, I finished the scarf and a matching hat ! So the finished item is a red cotton cable scarf! You can see the image below!

I made the pattern myself, it's pretty basic but I like to think of it as classic. It is CO 26 stitches, knit all first 6 rows. Then begin the cable pattern. always knit the first four stitches, and the last four stitches.   IT breaks down to knit 4, cable pattern(it is an 8stitch cable, and I always cabled back), knit two(always knit these two stitches), cable pattern, and then end with knit four.   The cable pattern was a 10 row repeat. Row 1, 3, 7, and 9 knit. 2,4,6,8, 10 Purl, and last but not least row 5 cable! Repeat until desired length is reached. End with six rows knit all.

So when I decided to make the scarf I bought two skeins of yarn "Just in case one isn't enough." Well one was just perfect, but know I have this matching second skein, and I decided to do a matching hat.

I gave these to my friend Amanda for Christmas, and they both fit! and she seemed to like them, and I got them to her on December 19th, so they were done, wrapped and gifted prior to Christmas! :-)

Now I have baby blankets to finish and something else needs to go onto the needles to distract me from the baby blankets.... What should I knit next?? hmmmm what yarn to attack next.

And so the yarn begins..

Hello All,

Or all I've choosen to share this with, or all who have stumbled upon this tale, or should I say yarn.

I love reading my friends blogs about their knitting or yarn they've encountered, and I've toyed with the idea of having a knitting blog, or a blog in general.   I'm not sure if it will take wing or if it's really "me", but I've decided to attempt it.

One big push for me to do this blog is to help me consume my growing yarn stash, and to finish up started projects and use my yarn that I bought for specific projects...

So then I puzzled over what do I call this blog? Do I call it "My knitting to do list?" no that's boring, you could write that on a post-it note.   And then I thought, well this is going to be a yarn in more ways then one, and it hit me, "I'm telling a yarn, about my yarn!" And so the title was born...

So what exactly is the definition of  the word yarn? well according to the free online dictionary it is:

yarn  (yƤrn)
n.
1. A continuous strand of twisted threads of natural or synthetic material, such as wool or nylon, used in weaving or knitting.
2. Informal A long, often elaborate narrative of real or fictitious adventures; an entertaining tale.
intr.v. yarned, yarn·ing, yarns Informal
To tell an entertaining tale or series of tales.

Well friends hopefully your in for some good yarning.
